Wow! It seems like yesterday that the kids were going back to school! September came and went. Next thing you knew it was Christmas. Them Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and now here it is. The end of the school year is upon us.
Ecsrima was added as a Martial Arts class at our school back in September. It’s taught using two rattan sticks about 32 inches long. You really work on your stances, your rhythm and timing, your accuracy,and your focus.

Our school is now offering Escrima classes on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. This art is also known as Filippino stick-fighting. It is practiced using two rattan sticks which are 32″long.

There’s a new game that’s hitting the streets. No, it’s nothing like hopscotch or ring around the rosie. Its known as “The knockout game”. It’s simple. The “players”, usually teenagers, run up to a stranger on the sidewalk and try to knock that person out with one punch. Simple, right? Simply horrible! So far at least four people have died from being hit and knocked down. Several more have suffered permanent brain injuries.
